For a song that’s not really about anything, this is pretty good!
I love this song. The combination of the background instrumental and the vocals is perfect. The chorus is perfect, especially with the “ay-oh” at the end. The whole thing sounds like the epic music that plays at the climax of an action movie. The raps followed a tune and went along with the singing very well. Everything is put together so well, making it such a good song to listen to.
Video – Cinematography
As a whole, the video looks pretty good. All of the camera angles with the sporadic lighting and fire/flashlights go along perfectly with the sound of the song. It is really cool to watch. It’s like watching a scene from the movie. I have to say, with all of the camera angles and cool scenes, the “story” with the girl could totally have been taken out. In the middle of the intense dancing, we see this girl running around and she drops a lipstick tube that seems to be significant, but ends up meaning nothing, and then finds herself trapped in a room. There is really no point to her story – if you can even call it a story – and I think the video would have been perfectly fine if that whole bit was just taken out.
I like the idea of the wardrobe in this video. It’s a good look and fits the concept of the video. From afar, the black outfits look pretty cool, but when looked at closer, they are a bit strange. There are a bunch of random cuts on the shirts, which doesn’t really give off any sort of meaning. If they were jagged rips, it would have given them a more thuggish looks, but carefully placed, stylized cuts just look awkward. The turtle necks also look totally wrong for this image. I kind of wish the black outfits were the only ones in the video. The white ones look strange, and are more distracting because of their bright color.
This dance fits the pace of the song perfectly. The use of the batons keeps it interesting and it really creative. Even though the moves themselves are on the simpler side, they match the feel of the song and have good rhythm. As a dance by itself, it isn’t the most complex that a dance could be, especially with that many members, but it is nonetheless well suited for the song.
Overall, I love this comeback. AlphaBAT’s debut song was a bit disappointing in my opinion, but they completely turned it around with this one. Even if there isn’t a whole lot going on in the video, it is still really cool to watch.
Overall Final Score: 4.3/5
