2Yoon “24/7” Music Video Review

There is only one word to describe this song: FUN.  This beat was so catchy that I couldn’t get it out of my head for weeks.  It just makes you want to get up and dance.  I’ve seen in the comments of the video some people complaining that the song copies B.A.P. in the “Get down” and “Boom boom clap” lines, but these lines are so common in songs that it can’t be considered copying.  Also, while B.A.P. says those lines in the bad boy, warrior context, 2Yoon is bringing out the party and dance within those words.  I found this song to just be so much fun, as well as nice to listen to with Jiyoon’s and Gayoon’s flawless vocal ability.

Score: 5/5

Like the song, the story of this video was fun and light-hearted.  Jiyoon and Gayoon come to a ranch where the members of BtoB are doing their work.  2Yoon joins them in the hard work and no one is having a good time until Jiyoon brings a boom box and gets everyone to join her in dancing.  Now the BtoB workers are dancing and having fun and 2Yoon takes over the ranch, bringing happiness and music to everyone.

On the side, they are meeting new people at the ranch, including one odd man who is completely disheveled with a chain hanging out of his nose.  While the BtoB portion had a clear storyline, the parts with the other guys was kind of random and unorganized, but it fit the overall theme of having fun and meeting new people.  It showed that 2Yoon really made a change to the dull life at the ranch.

While BtoB half of the story made sense, the other half with the chain-nose guy didn’t really have any sort of direction.

Score: 3.5/5

Even though the video was on a ranch and displayed the fun time 2Yoon had on their vacation, the video could have been a little more organized.  I found there to be a lot of unnecessary shots of Jiyoon and Gayoon talking to each other or watching the other people at the ranch without any real purpose other than showing what life on the ranch is like.  The initial shots with BtoB went by so quickly that I had to really put a lot of attention into watching their scenes to really know what was going on.  If they had longer shots for each storyline, it would have been easier to follow.  While quick scenes emphasize the care-free nature of 2Yoon’s vacation, it became a little too chaotic for my liking.

Score: 3/5

The wardrobe couldn’t have fit this theme any better.  Two beautiful city-girls coming to a run-down ranch was reflected perfectly in their outfits.  While they shifted from their normal 4Minute glitter and dazzle to overalls and plaid dresses, they still kept their city-girl flavor with flowery tops and cute accessories.  I absolutely love Jiyoon’s hat in the beginning scenes with BtoB.  It showed her cute side while her overalls fit her job of working on the ranch.

Score: 5/5

While not exactly very advanced moves, the choreography fit the overall theme of the song.    During the “boom boom clap!” parts of the song, they were indeed booming and clapping.  The bouncy dance just added to the happy sound of the song.  It very much reminded me of my old Hannah Montana/Disney Channel days and reflected the country feel very well.  My only complaint is that the hip-shaking clapping move became a little repetitive by the end of the video.  That was the only thing keeping the dance from a full five points.

 Score: 4.5/5

Overall, this was a really fun video with all portions of it fitting together in a blend of country and K-pop.  I had so much fun while watching it and really hope 2Yoon continues to impress the K-pop audience with their outstanding vocals and fun personalities.

Overall Final Score: 4.2/5
